Pet Friendly Activities on the Sunshine Coast

When it comes to holidaying with your furry family members, the Sunshine Coast is the place to be. With a myriad of activities available, from boardwalks and markets to cafes and beaches, there’s something to suit every breed.

Looking to soak up that gorgeous South-East Queensland sun? Check out Stumers Creek, a stunning dog-friendly beach. Conveniently located just down the road from Palms, our Coolum property, Stumers Creek is great for a quick beach fix or, if you and your dog are looking to work on those summer tans, a full day activity.

Here, you can unwind under your Cool Cabana, while your pup enjoys the paradise that is an off-leash area. With plenty of sandy beach to run along, they can play fetch and dig holes to their little heart’s content. And when you’re both ready to cool off you can either take a dip in the sea or, for those who prefer a little less waves, a dip in the creek. And don’t worry about your four-legged friend bringing sand into the car, because there’s a free public dog wash where your pup can rinse down before heading home for a well-deserved nap.

Are you and your dog early risers? Why not take a leisurely stroll up Peregian beach, only 100 metres from our property, Orangewood. Nothing says holiday better than the smell of morning sea breeze and the feeling of the sand between your paws.

Walk 15 minutes north and you’ll find yourself in the heart of Peregian at the town square. Stop by the Baked Poetry Cafe, one of our favourite coffee spots, where both you and your dog are welcome. There’s also plenty of play areas for the kids and a number of charming shops and boutiques, even a luxury dog shop where you and your doggo can pick up treats, toys, and more (because everyone deserves a little holiday shopping).

Speaking of shopping, on the first and third Sunday of every month the iconic Peregian Beach Markets take place near the town square. From 7 in the morning until midday, these artisan markets sell a variety of homemade products and services, and is perfect for a family outing that you can bring your furry friends along to.

If you and your four-legged friend are the more adventurous type or just looking to get your blood pumping, there are a number of other dog-friendly walks in the Coolum-Peregian region. For a shorter trail with spectacular views, the Coolum Beach Boardwalk is a must. Approximately a twenty minute round trip, this is perfect for all fitness levels. For a slightly longer trail, venture up to the Noosa Woods, just a fifteen minute drive from Peregian, where you can enjoy 3.5km stroll on a paved track. Don’t forget to pack a lunch so you can stop to enjoy views of the Noosa Spit halfway, and make sure to stop by Doggy Beach so your fur friend can have some time off the leash.

When you choose to stay at one of our Sunshine Coast properties, you are open to endless amounts of activities filled with relaxation and tail-wagging fun. But, most importantly, some special bonding time with the four-legged members of the family, because we all know life is better when shared together.
